Hello everyone! My name is Sam Findlen-Golden, and I have the pleasure of working with the Hildreth Institute as their summer intern this year. I am a rising senior at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. I am majoring in mathematics, with a minor in French and a concentration in physics. On campus, my main work is with the Harward Community Center, through which I have worked as a tutor and mentor at Lewiston Middle School, Auburn Middle School, and the Lewiston Public Library afterschool program. Outside of that work, I am the musical director of the oldest co-ed a capella group at Bates, the Crosstones.
I was matched with the Hildreth Institute by the Forest Foundation, a organization dedicated to the leadership development of undergraduate college students in the non-profit sector, with a focus on skill development in grant creation. This summer, I am one of 40 Forest Foundation interns working with non-profit organizations in the Greater Boston area. I was hoping to work with a non-profit in the education sector this summer, and was thrilled when I learned I would be working with the Hildreth Institute, an organization pushing for concrete and sweeping change in the realm of higher education.
I am very much looking forward to the work that HI will be doing this summer, and beyond!
